Mayor Burton updates local groups at monthly Community Leaders meeting
Mayor Burton hosted his monthly Community Leaders Roundtable meeting on Friday morning and briefed attendees on important issues in Oakville and the latest information on town business.
Hospital Funding The Town of Oakville has been asked by Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) to fund up to $200 million +/- 15 per cent of the total local share of $530 million. The results of the recent town-wide survey and the public meeting, which was held at Town Hall, indicate the community may be strongly polarized on the HHS request. The Mayor pointed out that Council will likely seek a delay at Monday night's Council meeting to address the many unanswered questions. Topics that were discussed: - Air quality by-law and mitigation of local sources of fine particulate matter
- Update on the proposed pain management clinic
- Re-use of the OTMH and surplus school lands
- Update on the proposed power plant
Mayor Burton encouraged all attendees to invite as many people as possible to attend the power plant rally, which takes place at Queen's Park on Tuesday, March 2 at noon.
