Council approves $515,000 to kick start plan for better roads
On February 16, Council approved $515,000 in additional funding for the town's 2010 road resurfacing program. This funding increase uses money that was saved from projects in recent years, and accelerates an aggressive plan initiated by Council to improve Oakville's road network over the next 10 years.
The funding is another element in Council's commitment to improving Oakville's roads. As part of the 2010 Budget, Council approved an increase of $750,000 in annual funding for the road resurfacing program every year from 2010 to 2019. If the 2019 funding level is sustained until 2021, the town would have no roads below a desirable quality. Since 2006, Council has increased the road resurfacing budget by 65 percent.
